    HW ANSWER 2/24; Nothingness paragraph

After Reading Kyle Chayka’s article “How Nothingness Became Everything We Wanted” I noticed a lot of visual culture captivated in his writing. One big example of this is his discussion of dreams and signs given to him. One factor is “the universe sending you a message” which sticks out to me as dreams do this through visual aspects. When you have dreams, they serve as symbols or experiences from life jumbled up usually to deliver a message from the subconscious to the mind. They do this by visualizing certain events and experiences, which sometimes reflect our fears or concerns about real life. Examples of such include dreams of losing teeth can mean your powerlessness in the real world, or running away resembling avoiding real life problems.
Another way it is discussed about visual culture is the phenomenon of minimalism. Minimalism is usually when art isn’t extra and things are kept to smaller features. This article brings it up when it discusses art having nihilistic attitude in realms of culture, with one intent on the destruction of extraneity in all its forms(Chayka). Here is where they discuss how nothingness is an artstyle itself, a more abstract one since it does not heavily use material to capture an ideal. Rather it relies on being void of many abstract idea, making that interesting on its own.
